The majority of the population is Muslim, and the country has a rich cultural heritage with influences from the Ottoman Empire, ancient Greek and Roman civilizations, and other regional cultures. Turkey is known for its food, history, beaches, natural scenery, and diverse landmarks such as Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and Cappadocia. The country is a member of the United Nations, NATO, and the Council of Europe.
